DLA Piper (Canada) LLP is pleased to welcome Keri Bennett as Counsel to the Employment and Data Protection, Privacy and Cybersecurity groups in our Vancouver office.
Keri Bennett provides strategic advice and representation to public and private sector clients in all areas of workplace law and freedom of information and privacy law matters, the firm said in a press release.
“Keri builds strong relationships with her clients and works collaboratively with them to navigate workplace and privacy law issues, including privacy programs and procedures, privacy impact assessments, information sharing agreements, consent requirements, and statutory breach notification obligations,” it said.
She advises clients on access to information obligations and the management of litigation risks. She regularly represents clients in complaints, inquiries and other matters before provincial and federal information and privacy commissioners, and has also appeared before the BC Supreme Court, Court of Appeal and Ontario Superior Court of Justice.
Keri also advises employers on all stages of the employment relationship. She drafts employment agreements and effective workplace policies, advises on workplace accommodations, bullying and harassment, employee monitoring, social media, discipline and terminations. Keri also has experience in the unionized workplace, including the interpretation of collective agreements and advising employers on matters that arise under the BC Labour Relations Code.
Before joining DLA Piper, Keri was a partner for several years at a recognized workplace law firm in Western Canada, where she headed up their Freedom of Information and Privacy Law practice.
