SL Enterprizes Ltd. has been fined $18,450.06 by WorkSafeBC as of Dec. 13, 2023, following an inspection in Dawson Creek last fall.

Two public roadway sites inspected by WorkSafe found that traffic control persons employed by the company were not positioned open to traffic flow and used to control traffic with speed limits exceeding 70 kilometres an hour.

“The firm also failed to ensure a risk assessment was completed by a qualified person and to develop a written traffic control plan. In addition, the firm failed to use effective means to eliminate or minimize the risk of worker exposure to traffic,” noted the penalty summary, with traffic control equipment and procedures also failing to meet regulatory requirements.

“These were all repeated violations. Furthermore, the firm failed to ensure the health and safety of its workers and other workers present at its worksite,” they added.
