McMillan LLP has appointed Bruce Chapple as its new CEO and managing partner, effective July 1. Chapple succeeds Tim Murphy in this role, bringing nearly 30 years of experience within the firm to the position.
“Bruce is a strong and respected leader, both in our firm and among the business community,” said Paul Davis, the board chair. “He enjoys the confidence of the partners to lead McMillan during this time of growth.”
Chapple, an accomplished business lawyer, has a practice focusing on mergers and acquisitions as well as private equity. Throughout his tenure at McMillan, he has held various management roles, providing him with an in-depth understanding of the firm’s strategy and operations. In addition to his professional work, Chapple serves on the board of Alpine Canada and is a former chair of the board at Royal St. George’s College.
Reflecting on his new role, Chapple expressed enthusiasm for the firm’s future. “I am really excited for the coming years. Our firm is almost 125 years old and it’s truly an honour to step into the CEO role during this next phase of national growth and success,” he said. Chapple also extended his gratitude to Murphy, acknowledging the outgoing CEO’s contributions to the firm’s strategic direction. “I also want to extend a deep thank you to our outgoing CEO, Tim Murphy, whose vision is reflected in our strategic plan – a plan we will continue to execute in the coming years.”
Murphy, in turn, expressed confidence in his successor. “I’m thrilled to pass the baton to Bruce,” he said. “The firm is in highly capable hands.”
