Kelly VanBuskirk is setting up his own law firm — VanBuskirk Law — in Saint John, N.B., on Aug. 1.
“Over the past few months, I’ve been working with my current partners to facilitate a seamless start-up, and I’m looking forward to working with all of my clients, new and old, in this adventure,” he said in a LinkedIn post, announcing that he was leaving Lawson Creamer.
“I’ve been blessed to spend the last 28 years – half of my whole life – with the excellent people of Lawson Creamer. In fact, when I started with the firm all those years ago, it was essentially a firm made up of the ‘Lawson’ and the ‘Creamer.’ Since then, we’ve grown personally and professionally, and I have been truly fortunate to be a part of it,” said VanBuskirk.
After three decades of what he called dedication to labour, employment, human rights, and litigation, the launch of his own firm was the “right step for the evolution of my business,” he said, adding that he will be joined by his colleagues Sarah Brooke, Daniel Wilband, and Isaac Corey.
“The Irish blues legend Van Morrison sings ‘Precious time is slipping away.’ For me, it is important to take advantage of this time in my life to structure my work in a way that will maximize client service, and that will be our focus at VanBuskirk Law,” he said. “For 31 years, I’ve dedicated most of my waking hours to the practice of labour, employment, and human rights law, and I am looking forward to continuing, but in a new and targeted way.”
The new office will be located at 1 Germain Street.
