‘Thrilled to join the fierce team’: Rachel Schechter joins Harris & Company as an associate

by HR Law Canada

Rachel Schechter has joined Vancouver-based Harris & Company LLP as an associate.

“Rachel has a broad privacy and litigation-focused practice, with an emphasis on privacy, data governance, breach response, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and related litigation and commercial disputes,” the law firm said in a LinkedIn post announcing the news.

Schechter said that privacy is an inherent right and integral to human dignity.

“This is an incredibly exciting and dynamic tie in the privacy law space – the rapid proliferation of technologies and data processing have brought huge opportunities for organizations – and with it an obligation to be held accountable for individuals,” she said.

“I enjoy helping organizations grow and adapt to the ever-changing landscape of privacy governance and being one small part of building a culture of privacy. I am thrilled to join the fierce team of advocates at Harris,” said Schechter.

Before joining Harris & Company LLP, Schechter was a lawyer at Fasken for more than six years. Prior to that, she was an associate at Alexander Holburn Beaudin + Lang LLP. She has studied at the University of Toronto, the University of Melbourne, and the University of British Columbia, where she received her JD, Law.
