The Employment Lawyers Association of Ontario has appointed two student directors for the first time in the organization’s history, the association announced today.

Julie Han and Alexandra Desormeaux will serve as the association’s inaugural student directors and first staff members, according to Andrew Monkhouse, founder and managing partner at Monkhouse Law who made the announcement.

The student directors will support operations and help strengthen and grow the organization, Monkhouse said. The appointments represent a significant step for the association as it expands its structure and operations.

The Employment Lawyers Association of Ontario focuses on employment law matters affecting legal professionals in the province. Monkhouse served on the hiring committee alongside Tahir Khorasanee. The selection process resulted in the appointment of Han and Desormeaux to their new positions.

The association has not previously had student directors or dedicated staff members in these roles, making the appointments a notable development in the organization’s structure.

Both Han and Desormeaux begin their roles immediately as the association’s first student directors.
