Ontario says it won’t appeal court ruling on Bill 124, plans to repeal legislation ‘in its entirety’

by HR Law Canada

The Ontario government has no plans to appeal a ruling by the Ontario Court of Appeal that struck down Bill 124, the legislation it passed to curb wage increases in the public sector.

After the Court of Appeal ruled the law to be unconstitutional earlier this week, the province said it will take steps to repeal Bill 124 “in its entirety in the coming weeks.”

“To solve for the inequality of workers created by today’s court decision, the province will urgently introduce regulations to exempt non-unionized and non-associated workers from Bill 124 until it is repealed,” it said in a press release.
