A Saskatchewan construction company has been fined $100,000 after a worker suffered serious injuries when a wall fell on their leg at a worksite in Corman Park.
3Twenty Modular pleaded guilty on Nov. 13 in Saskatoon Provincial Court to two violations of The Occupational Health and Safety Regulations, 2020. The charges stem from an incident on July 21, 2023.
The company was convicted of failing to ensure lifting equipment was safely designed, constructed, installed, maintained and operated. It was also convicted of failing to ensure workers who assembled, used, maintained or dismantled rigging were trained in safe rigging practices.
Both violations resulted in serious injury to the worker.
The court imposed fines of $35,714.29 on each count, along with a surcharge of $14,285.71 per count. Two other charges were stayed.
The Ministry of Labour Relations and Workplace Safety enforces workplace safety standards in Saskatchewan through education, intervention and prosecution.
